Barcelona February 26, 2020 The second pre-season test in preparation for the Formula 1 championship kicked off today at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which is scheduled to begin on March 15 in Australia, on the Albert Park track in Melbourne. In the first of the three days of testing Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc took turns at the wheel of the SF1000. MORNING:
Sebastian started the work and at 9:04 on the dot he went on track for his installation lap. Shortly after, the German returned to the track with a set of tires different from all the others: it was the C2 prototype built by Pirelli in anticipation of the race on the Dutch track in Zandvoort. The particular asphalt and the elevation of that circuit in some of its parts has in fact led the sole tire supplier to create a dedicated compound that has been supplied to all the teams. The standard C2 tires were then mounted on the SF1000 and the car's evaluation work continued. In the second part of the morning, the German finally mounted the C3 tires with which he set his best time in 1’18 "113. For him 84 completed laps, equal to 391 kilometers. AFTERNOON:
During the lunch break the single-seater was reconfigured on Charles's measures who continued the program. Once again, after the installation lap, the team mounted the prototype C2s for Zandvoort so that Leclerc could also test them, before continuing the tests with standard C2 compound tires. The Monegasque carried out aerodynamic tests and also some long runs before moving on to the C3 compound for the last hour on the track. It is in this configuration that Charles set his best time by stopping the clocks at 1’18 "244. For him a total of 80 laps equal to 372 kilometers.
