F1 pre-season testing officially started today. Sebastian took to the track this morning with his AMR21. He commented the work done and his first impressions of him: "There is still a lot of new things I need to get used to. Obviously the car is different, a different power unit, different approach. There's still a little bit of margin for myself and improvement I have to do on driving. It was quite a tricky morning, because it's very windy and the grip was quite low, I think everybody was facing the same track conditions but still it was very good for me to get a proper read about the car, getting used to all the new elements.
"In terms of performance, everybody knows the strength of the Mercedes engine, so on that front I don't think we have any excuse so I'm looking forward to! I had a bit of view on the TV and everybody was fighting with their cars, I don't think anybody was on holiday straight away coming back from the winter break! Was good fun to be back in the car to be honest! It's fun to work with the team. Fun to be in the car, fun to slide around. I enjoyed it and there's more to come in the next days!"
NEW SEASON, NEW TEAM, NEW HELMET
BWT and Sebastian will begin their partnership by converting kindergarten and schools into "BWT Bottle Free Zones", enabling thousands of children to enjoy healthy and sustainable drinking water. BWT's CMO Lutz Hübner said: “With Sebastian, we were able to find the ideal ambassador who perfectly represents our mission – to make the world a little bit better, sip by sip".
"Sebastian is not only an outstanding athlete but above all a great person with principles, a clear opinion and civil courage. Together with him, we are going to make a lasting contribution to the preservation of our planet".
Sebastian added: "The future is important and we must do our best to protect the planet for children and young people. We all share this responsibility and if we come together we can make a difference. As a Formula 1 driver, I think it’s right to speak up on this subject and have my voice heard. I am pleased to have found a partner in BWT that shares the same perspective and goals. By cutting down the amount of plastic waste, we can make the world a little better, sip by sip".
