Have you ever thought about retiring from F1?
"Yes, I've been thinking about retiring. And quite often. But, as I said, I hope in the end I have found something that can be exciting and I'm sure it is. So I'm looking forward to it. I didn't want to stay in F1 so much for I am privileged, I have a family that I love and that I love to take care of. And the retreat was a thought, to stop and do something else. But I'm curious to see what I can give in a new project. I'm curious to find out " .
Do you feel lighter after the announcement?
"It's easier when you know what's going to happen. The last few weeks have been intense, now that it's clear the situation is much simpler. But I'm thinking about the present, this very important race."
Were you looking for another family after Red Bull and Ferrari?
"Yes, sure. We have lived through great moments and other difficult ones, but with Ferrari we have lived this as a family. Sometimes good things end and you have to turn the page. I have had great feedback from the people I have worked with, from this point of view. view is difficult to change "
What is the best memory in Ferrari?
"There are so many: my first GP, the victory in Monte Carlo, the first victory in Malaysia. It is difficult to choose, after the first victory I have not slept. I have many good memories, and it is valid for me and also for the boys in the box "
Is there sadness for not having achieved the dream of winning the World Cup?
"Not really sad, there was great hope and conviction. We came close, but never really close. We have to be honest, we can't be too romantic. It's a shame, we wanted to win in a dominant way and we didn't. We envy a bit like Mercedes, but there are always reasons why things happen. I tried them all, it wasn't easy. "
Hamilton records: is there melancholy?
"It's a shame, on the one hand it's very simple for him but he worked hard to be in that position. He deserves all the successes, but Lewis will never be my hero. That will be Schumi forever. I'm happy for Hamilton anyway."
What went wrong with Ferrari?
"There is not enough time ... we could have done better, we gave our best but we couldn't win the World Championship. The biggest disappointment is not there, there are several factors. I don't go into details, because in Ferrari everyone puts passion into it. You work hard, they work incredible hours. It's a great company, a real passion ".
What do you leave to Ferrari?
"I don't know, I'm not vain. I enjoyed spending time here, I will carry on these friendships and this is the most important thing"
What was "being Ferrari" like?
"I have always seen myself as a part of the team. I drive the car and I am part of a great group. You believe in a brand, you have passion. I will continue to have it, but everything ends and you have to look forward. This brand touches you."
Is passion sometimes bad?
"Passion is enthusiasm and suffering. You can't be passionate without emotions, you can't live flat. We are different between Italians and Germans, when things go well it's fantastic"
What was the hardest teammate?
"I think with Webber, he was mature and we lived through difficult times. Today we get along well. He's the one who left the deepest mark. With Ricciardo I really liked him, he's a good opponent. With Kimi I had no complications. , I learned a lot from him on the track. With Leclerc it is interesting to see him emerge and grow, he now occupies my place. He will go a long way in F1, in the next decade he will be a big in F1 "
Which race do you choose among the 1000s of Ferrari?
"One of Schumi, my idol. I'm happy that Mick will drive the 2004 car, I'm envious ..."
What do you hope to prove again in Ferrari?
"The moment is difficult, I hope to have improvements. We are at a low point, but I want to help the team score points"
What do you want to say to the Italian fans?
"It was a great honor, it is a shame not to see them in the stands. It hurts us. When I am old I will look back and it will be one of the best emotions. The party in Milan, the podiums in Monza. It was a privilege to live these emotions, I hoped they would last longer but we must also turn the page. This is life "
